    Monthly Guitar Series by Parkening Students

    The Pepperdine University Guitar Department will present a concert featuring current students studying with world-renowned virtuoso and Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening.  The next performance will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 in the Surfboard Room of the Payson Library on the Pepperdine Malibu Campus.  The concert will feature guitarists performing masterpieces from the classical guitar literature spanning six centuries and including composers from around the world.

    The same concert program will be performed on Friday, October 13 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Malibu Public Library, 23519 W. Civic Center Way, Malibu, California.

    Both concerts are free and open to the general public.

     

    Pepperdine Guitar Students Return for Fall Semester

    Christopher Parkening’s classical guitar students are gearing up for the fall semester at Pepperdine University.  First on the schedule is a concert featuring all students studying with world-renowned virtuoso and Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening.  This concert will take place on Tuesday, September 12 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Surfboard Room of the Payson Library on the Pepperdine Malibu Campus.  Five students will perform masterpieces from the classical guitar literature spanning six centuries and including composers from around the world.  All concerts are free and open to the general public.

     

    Pepperdine Classical Guitarists Prepare for Senior Recitals

    Music majors Cody Noriega and Sergio Gallardo will give two recitals in preparation for their upcoming senior recitals.

    The first concert will be held on Tuesday, April 4 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Raitt Recital Hall on the Pepperdine Malibu campus.  Included in this recital will be pieces by Bach, Debussy, Barrios, Tedesco, and others.

    Then on Friday, April 7 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Sergio and Cody will perform in concert at the Malibu Public Library, 23519 Civic Center Way in Malibu.

    Both Cody and Sergio are classical guitar students of Pepperdine’s Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening.

    Pepperdine Student Guitar Concert Series

    The Pepperdine University Guitar Department will present a concert featuring current students studying with Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening.  Held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. tomorrow, March 14 in Raitt Recital Hall on the Pepperdine Malibu Campus, this concert will feature guitarists Joseph Peliska, Hope Mueller, Jonathan Pryde & Joseph Hertz performing masterpieces from the classical guitar literature spanning six centuries and including composers from around the world.  All concerts are free and open to the general public.

    Pepperdine Students Featured in Malibu Publications

    Undergraduate students  of Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening were featured in three Malibu publications this week with stories about their recent performances in Raitt Recital Hall and at the Malibu Public Library.

    PeCome and hear a performance of Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening’s classical guitar students tomorrow, November 8, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Raitt Recital Hall on the Pepperdine Malibu campus.

    This recital will feature works by Barrios, Rodrigo, Albeniz, Dyans, Granados, and De Falla, among others.

    The concert is free and open to the public.

    Those local to the Malibu area may be interested in attending a recital by Pepperdine guitar students this afternoon, January 15, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.. The Library address is 23519 W. Civic Center Way, Malibu, CA 90265.
