Kevin Enstrom Joins Pepperdine Faculty as Adjunct Professor of Guitar

The Pepperdine University Classical Guitar Department is pleased to announce the addition of a new adjunct faculty member: Kevin Enstrom.  Kevin, a former student of Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening, received his B.A. in Applied Music from Pepperdine University and Kevin Enstromrecently graduated from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music with a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance.  He is a co-founder of the newly minted Orpheo Guitar Quartet, which has been featured on KUSC, and an equally accomplished solo artist.  At Pepperdine, Kevin will be teaching private guitar lessons and leading the sight-reading studio.

When asked what excited him the most about his new position, Kevin replied, “I am most excited about the opportunity to work alongside the extremely talented and hardworking students in the guitar department, led by Christopher Parkening.  I hope that I can help the students to have an enriching musical experience like I had when I was a student here.”

Kevin will be bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Pepperdine Classical Guitar Department.  We asked Kevin to elaborate on his teaching methods.  Here is what he had to say.  “As an educator, I strive to develop each student’s ability by focusing on three areas: technique, musicality and theory.  I lead my students through practice schedules, technical exercises and performance practices to supply them with the tools necessary to become a concert artist.  Studying music at a university can be a daunting experience, especially when students are expected to perform at a top level musically and academically.  In the end, I hope to help my students create a musical ‘brand’ that they will be proud of.”

We are excited to welcome Kevin to our department and look forward to his many contributions to our program.
